I hope 2023 is everything you need and want it to be.
This year instead of setting goals, or intentions (I set my intentions on my birthday… on my personal New Year), I am picking a single word.
The word… Witch.
Recently I heard the origin of the word was wise… witches were the wise women and men in the village.
I pick this word for many reasons.
It feels like a reclaiming of something… of the power I hold inside… the solid foundation with which I was birth into this world that was slowly chipped away at to help me “fit it” and “succeed”.
I want to go into this year open to seeing things differently. I want to question old paradigms… shed light of things that seem “normal” and like “fact” so we can collectively questions and reassess them.
I want to explore my Celtic and Italian roots and learn more about the tradition lost to my family over time.
I want to step into my wise woman self unapologetically… I want to stop questioning it when others reflect it back to me… I want to believe it with every bone in my body.
I want to be my fully witchy self.
The one who sings with the wind and dances with the waves.
The one who wove stories from small moments and never questioned her intuitions, passions, and joys.
I want to welcome my 3 year old self with open arms. To create a safe and nurturing space for her to step into. To be her fierce defender when judgment, criticism, or shame comes knocking.
Witch. That is my word.
